FIA FIRST APPEARED IN DENMARK IN 1975 AND IS BASED ON THE INJECTIN OF A LIQUID SAMPLE IN A FLOWING REAGENT. THE BASIC NEW ELEMENT IS THE FULL CONTROL OF THE SAMPLE'S DISPERSION BY MEANS OF THIN TUBES, REACTION COILS, SPECIAL CONNECTIONS AND SMALL MIX ORREACTION CHAMBERS. WITH THE CONTROLLED MEDIUM DISPERSION SYSTEM THE FOLLOWING WERE AUTOMATED: - DETERMINATION OF BROMIDE WITH PHENOL RED, - DETERMINATION OF ZINC IONS WITH ZINCON, - DETERMINATION OF SULFONAMIDES USING THE BRATTON-MARSHALL METHOD, - DETERMINATION OF SALICYLATES USING THE TRINDER METHOD. WITH THE SYSTEM OF KINETIC ACID, CALCIUM AND AMINOPOLYCARBONIC AND BORIC ACID WERE AUTOMATED. THE NEW AUTOMATED METHODS WERE USED FOR THE ASSAY OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED SUBSTANCES IN PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS, IN SAMPLES OF WATER, VETERINARY FOOD AND IN HUMAN SERUM OR PLASMA.
