IN NUMERICALLY CONTROL SYSTEMS (MACHINE TOOLS, PLOTTERS, ETC), INTERPOLATION ISDEFINED AS THE PROCESS OF SYNTHESIZING A PRESCRIBED CURVE FROM A LARGE NUMBER OF SMALL STEPS. IN THIS THESIS NEW ALGORITHMS ARE PRESENTED FOR INTERPOLATING NON- PARAMETRIC AND PARAMETRIC CURVES AS WELL. ADDITIONALLY, A METHOD BASED ON THE PROPERTIES OF BERTRAND CURVES, IS PROPOSED FOR GENERATING TOOL CENTRE PATHS WITH AN ACCURACY EQUAL TO THE RESOLUTION OF THE MACHINE TOOL. IT IS SHOWN THAT FOR CUBIC SPLINES OF BICUBIC PATCHES, ACCURATE TOOL MOTION CAN BE GENERATED BY A FAST DDA-LIKE (DIGITAL DIFFERENTIAL ANALYZER) DIGITAL INTEGRATION SCHEME.
