Abstract
dc:descriptionHETEROPOLYCOMPOUNDS OF THE KEGGIN-DAWSON STRUCTURES UNDERGO MULTIELECTRON PHOTOREDUCTION IN THE PRESENCE OF A GREAT VARIETY OF ORGANIC REAGENTS IN NEAR VISIBLE AND UV LIGHT WITH CONCOMITANT OXIDATION OF THE ORGANIC SPECIES, WHICH IS CONSUMED DURING THE REACTION. THE PHOTOREDUCED "LIGHT" HALF CELL AND A SIMILAR "DARK" CELL IS THE BASIS FOR THE PHOTOGALVANIC CELL STUDIED. CONNECTION BETWEEN THETWO HALF-CELLS BOTH WITH PT ELECTRODES, PRODUCES A CURRENT UNTIL EQUILIBRIUM IS ESTABLISHED. THE "DARK" CELL IS AIR OXIDIZED TO THE ORIGINAL NON REDUCED FORMWHEREAS LIGHT REGENERATES THE REDUCED "LIGHT" HALF-CELL. IT TURNED OUT THAT 1:12 HETEROPOLYTUNGSTATES WITH THE KEGGIN STRUCTURES WERE CAPABLE TO PRODUCE HYDROGEN WITH A PT CATALYST OR WITHOUT IT AS WELL. PHOTOREDUCTION PROCEEDS TO THE EXTENT THAT THE RATE OF PHOTOREDUCTION MATCHES THE BACK-REOXIDATION BY HYDROGEN.THE REDUCTION STEP AT WHICH THIS TAKES PLACE DEPENDS ON THE TUNGSTATE USED.
