ΕΠΙΛΥΣΗ ΤΟΥ ΠΡΟΒΛΗΜΑΤΟΣ ΣΚΕΔΑΣΗΣ ΑΠΟ ΣΚΕΔΑΣΤΗ ΤΥΧΑΙΑΣ ΓΕΩΜΕΤΡΙΑΣ ΜΕΣΑ ΣΕ ΣΤΡΩΜΑΤΟΠΟΙΗΜΕΝΟ ΜΕΣΟ ΜΕ ΤΗΝ ΒΟΗΘΕΙΑ ΤΩΝ ΔΥΑΔΙΚΩΝ ΣΥΝΑΡΤΗΣΕΩΝ GREEN
Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THE PRESENT THESIS THE PROBLEM OF SCATTERING BY A DIELECTRIC SCATTERER LOCATED INSIDE A STRATIFIED MEDIUM IS TREATED, BOTH ANALYTICALLY AND NUMERICALLY. THE ANALYSIS MAKES USE OF DYADIC GREEN'S FUNCTIONS (DGF), THE THEORY AND PROPERTIES OF WHICH ARE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED. IN THE FIRST PART OF THIS WORK THE PROBLEM OF THE DGFS IS EXAMINED SO, THAT A MORE RIGOROUS FOUNDATION OF THEIR THEORY AND A CLARIFICATION OF THE ORIGIN AND MEANING OF THEIR SYMMETRICAL PROPERTIESIS OBTAINED. THE ADJOINT PROBLEM IS FORMULATED, THE DGFS FOR ALL POSSIBLE CASES OF BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FOR THE VECTOR HELMHOLTZ EQUATION ARE DEFINED AND THEIR SYMMETRICAL PROPERTIES, AS WELL AS THE ASSUMPTIONS UNDER WHICH THESE ONES HOLD, PROVED. AT FIRST THE BASIC PROBLEM OF THE DGF FOR A FINITE HOMOGENEOUS SPACEIS EXAMINED AND, AS A CONSEQUENCE, A MORE GENERAL AND COMPLETE STATEMENT OF THE LOVE EQUIVALENCE THEOREM IS POSSIBLE, AS WELL AS THE INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBILITIES ON THE CHOICE AMONG MORE DGFS FOR THE SOLUTION OF A SPECIFIC PROBLEMDEFINED IN A SPACE. THE PROBLEM OF TWO SPACES IN CONTACT (TWO LAYERED MEDIUM) IS TREATED NEXT AND THE, GENERALLY ARBITRARY, COUPLING RELATION BETWEEN THE TWODGFS DETERMINED. FINALLY, THE ANALYSIS IS GENERALIZED FOR THE CASE OF A MEDIUMWITH ARBITRARY NUMBER OF LAYERS. THE SECOND PART OF THIS WORK DEALS WITH THE ANALYTICAL COMPUTATION OF THE DGF FOR A PLANE STRATIFIED MEDIUM WITH AN ARBITRARY NUMBER OF LAYERS. A GENERAL AND UNIFIED EXPRESSION FOR THE EXPANSION OF THE DGF OF ANY LAYER IS COMPUTED, THE COEFFICIENTS OF THE EXPANSION STUDIED AND THE ASYMPTOTIC EXPRESSIONS OF THE DGFS EVALUATED. THE PROBLEM OF THE DIELECTRIC SCATTERER INSIDE ONE OR MORE LAYERS IS SOLVED WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE EQUIVALENT CURRENT SOURCES AND THE FORMULATION OF AN INTEGRAL EQUATION, WHICH IS SOLVED NUMERICALLY USING THE METHOD OF MOMENTS. FOR THE NUMERICAL APPLICATION A FINITE CYLINDRICAL SCATTERER IS CONSIDERED, FOR WHICH THE CROSS SECTIONS ARE COMPUTED FOR VARIOUS CASES OF INCIDENCE AND POLARIZATION OF THE EXCITING PLANE WAVE.
