ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΤΩΝ ΥΔΑΤΙΚΩΝ ΣΧΕΣΕΩΝ ΣΤΟ ΦΥΛΛΟ ΤΩΝ ΣΚΛΗΡΟ-ΑΕΙΦΥΛΛΩΝ ΦΥΤΩΝ
Abstract
dc:descriptionTHE WATER RELATIONS OF ELEVEN EVERGREEN SCLEROPHYLLOUS SPECIES HAVE BEEN STUDIED USING THE MAIN PARAMETERS Ψ, ΨS, ΨΡ AND RWC. THE RESULTS OBTAINED SUGGESTED THE DIVISION OF THE ABOVE SPECIES INTO THREE TYPES (A,B,C) RELATED TO THEIR WATER ECONOMY- REGULATION BEHAVIOUR. TYPE A INCLUDES PLANTS WITH HIGH VALUES OF Ψ AND RWC AND SLIGHT VARIATIONS OF ΨS VALUES. TYPE B INCLUDES PLANTS WITH MEDIUM VALUES OF Ψ AND RWC AND LARGER VARIATIONS OF ΨS VALUES. FINALLY TYPE C INCLUDES PLANTS WITH LOW Ψ AND RWC VALUES, WHILE ΨS AND Ψ SHOWED SIMILAR SEASONAL VARIATIONS. APPROACHING THE LEAF SYSTEM THROUGH THEIR WATER BALANCE, IT IS CONSIDEREDTHAT THE LEAF A) RESPONSES DIFFERENTLY AND WITH A TIME HYSTERISIS TO THE WATERSTRESS, B) DOES NOT USE THE OSMOREGULATION AS A BASIC RESPONSE MECHANISM DURING THE DROUGHT PERIOD, C) RECOVERS THE HIGH Ψ AND RWC VALUES AS FAR AS FAVORABLEENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS ARE PREDOMINATED, WHILE THEIR WATER BALANCE IS CONTROLLED BY THE KINETIC OF H2O MOLECULES AND D) SELECTS THE RESPONSE MECHANISM TO WATER STRESS USING ΨS OR ΨP OR RWC-ΨΡ REGULATION.
