dc:descriptionSTUDIES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON THE INTRACELLULAR COMPARTMENTATION AND PROPERTIES OF RIBULOSE 1,5-BISPHOSPHATE (RUBP) CARBOXYLASE FROM THE CYANOBACTERIUM (BLUE-GREEN ALGA) CHLOROGLOEOPSIS FRITSCHII. 1) RUBP CARBOXYLASE WAS FOUND IN THESUPERNATANT (S1) AND PELLET (P1) FRACTIONS PRODUCED BY DIFFERENTIAL CENTRIFUGATION OF DISRUPTED PHOTOAUTOTROPHICALLY-GROWN CELLS AT 40000 XG FOR 1 H. 2) EVIDENCE WAS OBTAINED FOR THE PROTEOLYSIS OF RUBP CARBOXYLASE BY A MULTISPECIFICENZYME IN THE PARTICULATE FRACTION IN VITRO AND IN VIVO DURING SENESCENCE OFPHOTOAUTOTROPHIC CULTURE. 3) ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO STABILIZE THE ACTIVITY OF THE PARTICULATE ENZYME. LOW CONCENTRATION (IONIC STRENGTH) BUFFER FAVOURS THE STABILITY OF RUBP CARBOXYLASE IN THE P1 FRACTION. (SHORTENED)
