Μελέτη της δυσλειτουργίας των κροταφογναθικών διαρθρώσεων σε ασθενείς με ρευματοειδή αρθρίτιδα
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe general aim' ol this study was to investigate subjective, clinical and radiogiaphic features in the stornatognathic system in individuals With ΚΛ and to correlate them. Fifty individuals with a medical diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who demanded medical treatment b> the specialist rheumatology clinic of the <KAT·· hospital in Athens during December 1983 - June 1985, wereincluded in this study. They are classified according to the America"«Rheumatism Association (Ropes et a! 1959). 43 females (86%)and 7 males (lA(;i). The mean age of those was 57,12 (range 30-77).Anamnestic examination about subjective symptoms related to the stornatognathic system was taken from all the patient:-, and was estimated by the anamnestic dysfunction index Ai according to Helkimo (1974b). Questions about general joint symptoms were i!so included aboutduration, extension and severity of RA and estimated by the subjective index (Si) according to Wenneberg-Koop (1982). Ali the 50 patients were subjected to routine clinical examination usedat the department of oral physiology, of the Dental school of Athens (CarJsson-Hetktmo 1972). The-severity of clinical symptoms was estimated by the clinical dysfunction index (Di) according to Helkimo (1974b). The occlusion was examined for the presence or not of complete and'»atrial dentines, number of teeth and number of occlunding teeth, in the (IP). The occlusion was also examined for unilateral premature contacts in CRP, interferences on the mediotrusion side, interferences dming protrusion and on the laterotrusion side. The severity of occlusal problems was estimated by the occlusal index (Oi) according to Helkimo (1974b). Radiographic examination of the TM.l was performed in ail patients using circular tomography. The radiographic findings were classified {flattaning. osteophytes, sclerosis, and erosions) according to radiographic index Ri (Wenneberg-ilollandcr-Kopp 19.83). Statistical methods: were used from the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) system, i. e. X- lest, Spearman correlations coefficients, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and· multiple regression analysis. The results of this study have shown that 72<<' of the patients suffering with RA had subjective symptoms from the stomatognathic/TMJ system, 94Ç< of the same patients with RA had clinical signs of the stornatognathic system and 6-P. c of the individuals had radiographic findings of the TMJ.
