Περιβάλλοντα αποθέσεως των ιζημάτων του Πηδάσου (Ν.Δ. Πελοπόννησος)

In Pedassos Greece the Pliocene sediments are about 30 m thick. These sediments comprise a transgressive sequence. Good exposure allowed a quantitative study of the lateral variation of faciès and beds to be carried out. The lower beds are sandy and clayey silts interbedded with conglomerate and are probably alluvial fan deposits. Overlying is a sei sequence of marine faciès, mostly deposited in a lagoon. Silty sand and clayey silt were probably built up in lagoonal euxinic bottom. Gradedwashover beds were deposited behind barrier beaches. Clayey silt beds were formed in an intertidal flat environment extending from the landward sides of the lagoon seawards. Silt, sandy silt and silty sand beds were deposited in the shoreface or offshore zone.
