Abstract
dc:descriptionTHE OBJECT OF THIS THESIS IS THE DESIGN OF ECONOMICAL FIR FILTERS FOR DELTA MODULATION SIGNALS (D.M. FILTERS). THE MOTIVATION FOR THIS RESEARCH WAS THE OUT-COME OF THE FOLLOWING TWO CONSIDERATIONS A: THE IMPLEMENTATION OF FIR FILTER IN GENERAL REQUIRES ALOT OF HARDWARE, B. THE SIMPLICITY OF THE CIRCUITS PERFORMING THE OPERATIONS OF ADDITION AND MULTIPLICATION ON D.M. SIGNALS. THUS FIR FILTERS WERE SOUGHT WHICH WOULD REQUIRE REDUCE HARDWARE FOR THEIR IMPLEMENTATIOND.M. FILTERS. THIS GOOD WAS ACHIEVED BY A SPECIAL MODIFICATION IN THE APPLICATION OF THE WINDOW METHOD. CLEARLY THE WINDOW FUNCTION IS ADJUSTED IN EACH FILTER IN SUCH A WAY THAT MOST OF ITS COEFFICIENTS ARE SIMPLY RELATED TO EACH OTHER. IT IS SHOWN THAT THIS SIMPLE RELATIONSHIP AMONG MOST OF THE FILTER COEFFICIENTS ACTUALLY 1 : 2, COUPLED WITH THE PROPERLY OF THE DELTA ADDER CIRCUIT TOGIVE HALF-SUMS OF THE UNDER ADDITION DELTA SEQUENCES LEADS TO ECONOMICAL FIR FILTER STRUCTURES.
