dc:descriptionTHE DEVELOPMENT OF A UNIFIED METHODOLOGY IS PRESENTED FOR THE ANALYTIC SOLUTION OF THE STATIC AND DYNAMIC PROBLEM OF SHALLOW SHELLS WITH A RECTANGULAR BASE.THE SHALLOW SHELLS HAVE PRACTICALLY, ARBITRARY GEOMETRY AND VARIOUS BOUNDARY CONDITIONS. MORE SPECIFICALLY THE ELLIPTIC AND HYPERBOLIC, PARABOLOID, THE HYPAR, THE CONSIDAL PARABOLIC AND THE SOAP-BUBBLE PARABOLIC SHELL ARE ANALYSED. ACOMPUTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN WRITTEN FOR THE STATIC AND/OR DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF THESE SHELLS AND FINALLY, SIMPLE EXPRESSIONS ARE DEVELOPED FOR THE DIRECT COMPUTATION OF THE CHARACTERISTIC NON-DIMENSIONALIZED STATIC AND DYNAMIC QUANTITIES IN EACH CASE.
