Factors Impacting the Search for and Selection of a Sport Management Internship

Abstract

An internship is a work experience offered by an employer to introduce studentsto the working environment and specific industries related to their field of study. In some cases,upon graduation students may be offered a paid position at their internship site. The purpose of this project was to identify factors that impact the search for and selection of a sport management internship. Based on the results of a survey administered to an undergraduate sport management career preparation and professional development class at George Mason University,barriers, constraints, and motivation for an internship site selection are discussed.
