A Strange Case Indeed

Abstract

This thesis is an excerpt from a novel length work. In Victorian London, where industry is hurtling forward and mad science reigns, Oliver Reid is a thief who has spent most of his life just trying to survive. But while Ollie doesn’t mind London’s criminal underbelly, he is growing tired of the never-ending routine of pick pocketing and police chases. He is ready for something more proper, and due to a job gone wrong winds up working as an assistant to Dr. Henry Jekyll and his associate Mr. Edward Hyde. Although Ollie soon realizes that there is something quite odd about his employers’ and, as usual, his curiosity gets the better of him. The deeper he digs though, the more twisted the threads connecting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde become and before long Ollie finds himself ensnared in a much more sinister plot. Which leads Ollie to the ultimate question: Should he join the anarchists who wish to remodel London’s social and political structure, and make the biggest score of his criminal career? Or will he put his life on the line and try to stop them?
