CFD investigation of the aerodynamic performance of a single-stage and a two-stage centrifugal fan
Abstract
dc:description.abstractAn extensive CFD study of backward-curved centrifugal fans, manufactured by Howden, is undertaken using the commercial solver FLUENT and its associated pre-processor GAMBIT. Initially, a single-stage fan is analysed... The solution methods are used to lay the foundation for the CFD analysis of a two-stage, series-coupled assembly, connected by a cross-over duct. Modifications are applied to the intermediate geometry... A range of damper settings are applied to the inlet louver dampers of the single-stage and the two-stage model to analyse the part-load performance of the fans. Finally, a preliminary transient analysis is conducted on a single-stage model.
