The purpose of this research was to examine the use of music therapy interventions with AYA at mental health facilities in Journal of Music Therapy, Music Therapy Perspectives, and Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy from 2019 through 2024. Criteria for inclusion were music therapy applied to the population with music as the primary focus of the intervention, the presence of music therapy interventions in AYA mental health facilities and research from 2019 through 2024. Of the 321 articles, 21 met these criteria, and 5 were identified for further inspection. Overall, the specific interventions used by music therapists with this population is slim. Further research and in-depth annotation of music therapy interventions with AYA in mental health facilities is needed to continue the expansion of accessibility of music therapy within this population. With continued research and robust research contributing to the field, there is hope that a plethora of resources will be utilized by the field of music therapy.","abstract_html":"The use of music therapy with adolescents/young adults (AYA) in mental health facilities has proven to be effective.
