We begin with a discussion of Porphyry's understanding of some Homeric and pre-Socratic themes. Then , in the second chapter, Plato's contribution to Porphyry's system is analysed. In the third and fourth chapters, our philosopher's relation with Aristotle and Plotinus is indeed discussed, respectively. And finally, in the fifth chapter, Porphyry`s commentary on Plato's Parmenides is reviewed in which we see the highest recurring moment of the unity of Platonism and Aristotelianism.
