Theoretical and numerical results for electrorheological fluids

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This thesis is about the mathematical background of the behaviour of electrorheological fluids. Those fluids have a special property: When disposed to an electro-magnetic field their viscosity undergoes a significant change. The thesis covers the natural energy spaces (generalized Orlicz spaces), existence and regularity of solutions (2D + 3D), pressure stabilization, fully implicit Euler time discretization, and Meyer type estimates.
