Ein neuer, hochaktiver Phenoxyiminkatalysator, Bis-(N-(3'5'-di-iod-salicyliden)-2,6-difluor-anilin)-titan(IV)-dichlorid (24), wurde synthetisiert und vollständig charakterisiert. Die Röntgenstrukturanalyse wurde aufgeklärt. Nach Aktivierung mit Methylaluminoxan (MAO) zeigt 24 eine hohe Aktivität bei der lebenden Polymerisation von Ethen. Es können ultrahochmolekulare Polyethylene und propenreiche, statistische Copolymere von Ethen und Propen sowie engverteiltes, ataktisches Polypropylen hergestellt werden. Der Nachweis der lebenden Polymerisation erfolgte durch kinetische Messungen und Analyse der gebildeten Polymere. <br> <br>Eine Serie von Blockcopolymeren des Typs PE-block-P(E-co-P) wurden durch sequentielle Monomerzugabe im Rahmen einer lebenden Olefinpolymerisation an 24/MAO synthetisiert. Es wurde eine systematische Variation der Blocklängen und des Propengehalts durchgeführt. Untersuchungen der Morphologie mit Hilfe der AFM und CRYSTAF-Messungen belegten das Vorliegen von Blockcopolymeren. An Xray structure of the complex has been obtained. After activation using methyl aluminoxane (MAO) it is highly active in living polymerisation of ethylene. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylenes of narrow polydispersity as well as high molecular weight, propene-rich random copolymers of ethylene and propene were obtained. The living character of the polymerisation on 24/MAO was shown by on-line polymerisation kinetics and the dependency of molar mass on polymerisation time. <br> <br>A series of block copolymers of the type PE-block-P(E-co-P) have been synthesised by sequential monomer addition. A systematic variation of the block lengths and the propylene content have been performed. The block copolymers were analysed by NMR, SEC, DSC, TGA and DMA. AFM morphologies and CRYSTAF experiments give good proof for the formation of block copolymers. HT gradient HPLC showed that neither pure PE nor PP are formed during the synthesis of the block copolymers. In contrast to polyolefin block copolymers, block copolymers of the type PE-block-PS and P(E-co-P)-block-PS could not be prepared in pure form. They can only be obtained in a blend with the homo-PE or P(E-co-P) respectively. One major application of the synthesised block copolymers is the role of compatibilizers in polymer blends. <br> <br>Transition metal residues are a crucial problem for atom transfer radical polymerisation. The use of new perfluoroalkyl-substituted catalyst was the key to easy recovery and recycling of the ATRP catalyst. Therefore, the concept of fluorous biphase catalysis was successfully applied to the ATRP processing. The recycled catalyst could be used for two further catalytic cycles without encountering activity losses. A solvent system using toluene / cyclohexane / perfluorodecalin (1:1:1, vol-%) was applied for the polymerisation. Several perfluoralkyl-substituted ligands were studied in ATRP processing. Only when cobalt(II) perfluorooctanoate was used in normal and reverse ATRP it was possible to obtain transition metal free polymers. The activity of the catalyst is remarkably higher in flurous conditions than in non-fluorous media.
