The crown was cut off 2 mm above the cemento-enamel junction. The samples were randomly divided into 4 groups: cast gold post and core (Control group I), titanium posts and composite cores (Test group II), zirconium posts with composite cores (Test group III), zirconia posts and heat pressed glass ceramic cores (Test group IV). All the posts were adhesively luted using a resin cement. All the samples received full coverage metal crowns, cemented with glass ionomer cement. All samples were exposed to 1,200,000 chewing cycles at 30 N. The survival rate of the samples after exposure to the artificial oral environment was as follows: 87.5 group 1, 93.75 group 2 and 3, and 100 group 4. The mean fracture strengths and the standard deviations were as follows: 374.34 N &#61617;(181.47) group 1, 429.36 N &#61617;(150.16) group 2, 514.70 N &#61617;(236.54) group 3, 516.34 N &#61617;(139.76) group 4.
