Die 80 Prüfkörper wurden im Kausimulator 1,2 Mio. Kauzyklen (F= 49N) und Temperaturwechseln zwischen 5°C und 55°C ausgesetzt. Alle Proben hielten der Kausimulation stand. Anschließend wurden die Prüfkörper okklusal in der Universalprüfmaschine (Zwick, Ulm, D) bis zum Bruch belastet. Der Bruchtest ergab folgende Median-Bruchfestigkeitswerte (N) (Min/Max): Gruppe A: 1451 (417/2404), Gruppe B: 1317 (657/2096), Gruppe C: 776 (346/1472), Gruppe D: 814 (481/1691), Gruppe E:1300 (900/2211). Die Bruchfestigkeitswerte der Gruppen C und D waren statistisch signifikant geringer, als jede der Gruppen A, B und E. Mit EPK konnten bei Inlay und Vollveneerrestaurationen Bruchfestigkeitswerte natürlicher Prämolaren erreicht werden. Eighty maxillary premolars were divided into two control groups (A, B) and three test groups (C-E) of 16 test specimens each. The specimens of Groups B to E were prepared as follows: Group B: MOD inlay, Group C: PC (palatal), Group D: PC (palatal and buccal), Group E: full veneer. The 64 all-ceramic restorations were fabricated using an experimental pressed ceramic EPC/VP 1989 (Ivoclar Vivadent AG, Schaan, Principality of Liechtenstein) and cemented according to the adhesive technique. The 80 test specimens were subjected to 1.2 million chewing (F= 49N) and temperature cycles of 5 °C and 55°C in a chewing simulator. All the specimens withstood the chewing simulation. Subsequently, the test specimens were exposed to occlusal loading to the point of fracture in a universal testing machine (Zwick, Ulm, Germany). The following mean fracture strength values (N) (min/max) were recorded in the test: Group A: 1451 (417/2404), Group B: 1317 (657/2096), Group C: 776 (346/1472), Group D: 814 (481/1691), Group E: 1300 (900/2211). The fracture strength values of Group C and D were statistically less significant than those of Group A, B and E. Inlays and full veneers made of the experimental pressed ceramic achieved fracture strength values corresponding to those of natural premolars.
