{"id":{"repo_id":"embry-riddle","oai_identifier":"oai:commons.erau.edu:db-theses-1158"},"canonical_url":"https://search.dev.ndltd.org/etd/embry-riddle/oai:commons.erau.edu:db-theses-1158","repository":{"repo_id":"embry-riddle","name":"Embry Riddle Aeronautical University","base_url":"https://commons.erau.edu/do/oai/"},"display":{"title":"Study of the Influence of Nacelle and Pylon on Aerodynamics of a New VU Design","abstract":"<p>The purpose of this thesis was to illustrate the influence of the nacelle and pylon on aerodynamics of a new Very Light Jet design, using Computational Fluid Dynamics.</p> <p>The objective of the first phase was to repair the existing CATIA model in order to facilitate the meshing process.</p> <p>The second and third phase was to create two meshes: a mesh for the complete model (aircraft with nacelle and pylon), and a second for the aircraft alone.</p> <p>The two problems have been solved at cruise conditions using Navier-Stokes equations with a second order accuracy.</p> <p>The model complying with theory, the results have been then processed.</p> <p>The analysis resulted in showing that shock waves were forming at the pylon, generating noise, vibration and more drag.
