Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>Instead of meeting his dealer at the park, one-month-clean addict Will Colman runs into Robbie Fowler, his old high-school classmate tasked to help Will maintain his sobriety through the vessel of the church, run by Robbie's father. Will continues to feel a pull toward Robbie, the crush he thought gone simply lying dormant. Along with coming to terms with his feelings toward Robbie, Will struggles with the fatal overdose of his father, the death of his childhood dog, and the frequent appearance of God in his dreams. Using Plato’s Allegory of the Cave as a metaphor for predestinated roles set by family, this novel tells a story interwoven with love and horror about two men conforming and breaking these roles as they seek out what it means to maintain their own identities.</p>
