Subsequently the mining industry in Tasmania has adopted the course and it has been on offer in that state since 2000. More than 150 000 trainees have attended the MARCSTA course to date (Gilroy, 2006). An empirical research study analysing data collected from a randomly selected group of 1 600 trainees who attended the course was conducted over a twelve month period.
