The model improves existing tsunami models and is compared to data collected from the 2011 Japanese tsunami. The main results show that one can modify existing q-advanced functions to obtain more accuracy in the forcing of a tsunami, and, in turn, gain a more accurate model of a tsunami propagation and its approach to land.","abstract_html":"This thesis studies q-advanced functions that are used as forcing terms in the forced wave equation and the Korteweg-de Vries equation in modeling tsunamis.
