It is usually described as an ability to withstand and overcome difficult challenges and come back stronger. In September 2024, many of my Appalachian communities faced Hurricane Helene, a life altering event that no one could have anticipated being as severe as it was. The cataclysmic effects of this natural disaster will be felt by my Appalachian home for decades. Through textile techniques, I explore my own connections to the desolation and tell the stories of others who found themselves touched by Helene’s destruction. These events, the lessons learned, and spiritual fortitude formed by them bless me and my community with a deeper understanding and appreciation of our world. I invite you to embark on a journey through resilience as expressed in my artworks, where each piece serves as a testament to endurance, growth, and transformation.","abstract_html":"Resilience comes from many sources for everyone.
