Peer rejection can have a tremendous impact on children's lives and future adjustment. This study took a closer look at the experience of loneliness in children and adolescents. The stability of loneliness as well as the presence of depressive symptoms was explored. The study also examined if rejected children vary in their experience of loneliness and depression. Results indicate that withdrawn rejected children reported a higher degree of loneliness than aggressive rejected children over time.
