The Contributions of St. Mary's Hospital to the Development of Medical Education in Nevada

<p>The general purpose of this paper is to show the contribution made by St. Mary’s Hospital to the State of Nevada through its administration of and affiliation with educational programs in the field of medicine. To accomplish this purpose a study has been made of the three major educational programs with which St. Mary s is affiliated and the one inservice program it maintains.</p> <p>The four programs selected for study are the following: (l) The Orvis School of Nursing, University of Nevada, (2) St. Mary's School for Practical Nursing, (3) St. Mary's School of Medical Technology, (4)</p> <p>St. Mary's Hospital Inservice Training Program. Each of these programs is considered under three aspects. its and development, a description of its program, and resulting benefits to the community.</p> <p>A brief history of the hospital, with emphasis its expansion program, serves as background material and indicates the hospital's qualifications to operate educational programs. No attempt has been made to write a complete history of the hospital. The purpose Oi this background material is solely to show growth and progress and describe facilities.</p>
