Bitter Gaiety: Yeat's "Meditations in Time of Civil War"
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>My paper will be divided into four sections. First, using his prose works, I shall examine Yeats's meditative poetic — a chapter which forms the basis for the rest of the paper. Second, I shall explicate in depth the first poem "Ancestral Houses"; third, I shall make a cursory examination of the next five poems; and fourth, I shall explicate in depth the last poem of the sequence, "I See Phantoms of Hatred and of the Heart's Fullness and of the Coming Emptiness."</p>
