By early poems is here meant those poems contained in Crossways (1889), The Rose (1893), The Wind Among the Reeds (1894), In the Seven Woods (1904), The Green Helmet and Other Poems (1910), and Responsibilities (1914) as published in the definitive edition of The Collected Poems of W. B. Yeats (New York: Macmillan Co., 1956)</p>
