A Study of the Rescue in Keat's "Eve of St. Agnes"

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

John Keats's poem "The Eve of St. Agenes" is generally classified as a romance. A study of this work reveals many devices characteristic of romance literature. Among these devices, the rescue theme is noteworthy because it proves to be an important link binding this poem to the long line of romances in English literature.
