Abstract
dc:description.abstract
The history of Europe during the sixteenth century, a marked ; 1 era from a military and diplomatic point of view, is concerned: in no small degree with the rivalry between Spain and England. Spain, because of her political significances, played the leading role until 1588 when England defeated the Spanish Armada. In fact, the sixteenth century Is In great part the story of Spain emblazoned across the horizon of Europe; while in smaller part it is the story of England which crossed that horizon. And thus it happened that the glory of Spain was lessened; the glory of England enhanced.
