Bridging the Gap in Communication Between School and Home: Impact on Academic Achievement in Primary Grades

<p>The purpose of this paper is to review literature on home-visits and determine their effect on a child's education. The research gives different examples of barriers and stereotypes and explains the effects of communication between families and teachers. There is a brief overview of the history of home visits: from the beginning as community visits to now. A number of programs have been used as examples for home visits and are listed in this paper. This paper looks at teachers, parents, and leadership perspectives on home visits. Teachers and educators, who support home visits, were interviewed for their perspectives on contribution to an increased partnership through home visits.</p>
