The Relationship Between English Language Structure and Language Acquisition

<p>This paper investigates several of the difficulties and complicated aspects of the English language as well as the implications for new English speakers. This investigation provides an overview of the language, some of the difficulties faced by English language learners (ELL), and encouragement and understanding for those teaching it and those who have learned or are learning English.</p> <p>The goal of this paper is to highlight the complexity of the English language especially polysemy, synonyms, idioms, and spelling and how challenging these issues could be for non­native speakers and students to grasp. The review examines the history and development of the language, several key grammatical challenges and many of the influences that constitute the English language as spoken today. Educators must recognize that English is a remarkable, yet confusing language. Those attempting to learn it or improve their use of English need teachers who understand these issues and can bring this understanding into their teaching strategies.</p>
