This project is a review of the literature on the effect of nutrition on behavior. The purpose of the review is to establish a base of knowledge that assists teachers in recognizing the role of nutrition on student behavior. The literature review discusses many aspects of the relationship between nutrition and behavior. Research suggests that specific diets may be appropriate for children with allergies. Research suggests implementing school programs that promote nutrition in young children.
On a number of occasions, a significant relationship between behavior and nutrition was mentioned throughout the review. Poor nutrition was mentioned to have caused a negative effect on comprehension skills and brain development. The lack of proper, healthy nutrition does take a toll on the functioning of the human body. Without necessary vitamins and nutrients that some foods have to offer, the body just does not operate properly.
