Effective Interventions for Retention Policy in the Middle Schools

<p>This study focuses on the issue of intervention programs used by middle schools to boost the skills of struggling students at risk of grade retention. The researcher surveyed middle school classroom teachers from two school sites within the same district, the first site a large middle school, the second site a smaller K-8 school. Teachers rated on a 1 to 5 scale the effectiveness of various intervention programs. With the help of specific teacher comments, the findings reveal the benefits and flaws of specific intervention programs currently implemented at school sites.</p>
