Women in Human Service Professions Elementary School Teachers and Public Health Nurses: A Comparative Analysis
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>This paper examines job satisfaction for women in human service professions. Elementary school teachers and public health nurses were the subjects of comparison. The study looked at factors such as! workload, recognition, stress, compensation, gender stereotypes, and attrition. The results of the study indicated high levels of dissatisfaction for women in human service professions. Teachers and nurses report similar problems in their professional lives. Lack of autonomy, tremendous workload, and lack of recognition cause stress and burnout. As a result, women in human service professions are dissatisfied with their careers and these professions experience high rates of attrition.</p>
