Abstract
dc:description.abstract
This study examined whether or not ten multiple subject pre-service teachers were being sufficiently prepared in the thematic topic of environmental sustainability. The desired outcome of this teacher preparation was to integrate environmentally sustainable principles into an elementary interdisciplinary curriculum focused on developing education as a lifelong process.

The teachers in training interviewed for this study felt that it would be important to teach environmental sustainability in their own classrooms. Although each participant reported that they had not been given any curriculum unit experience which was based upon the theme of environmental sustainability, they felt that they had been given strategies which would help them to integrate environmental sustainability throughout the curriculum.
