The Effects fo a Changing Technical Graphics Curriculum
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The impact of advanced technology has increased computer usage at all levels of business and industry, as evidenced by the proliferation of computers on almost every desktop or workstation across the country. Within construction, engineering, and manufacturing related industries. Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) has had a tremendous impact on the production of technical graphics. Within vocational and technical education, traditional manual drafting curricula continues to be the primary teaching method for beginning technical graphics classes. A study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using CADD techniques and curricula as the primary instruction method within beginning technical graphics classes. The study recommends that, since CADD curricula and manual drafting curricula are equally effective teaching methods, and CADD technology is used, almost exclusively, in industry, CADD curricula and methods should be utilized in teaching beginning technical graphics.</p>
