The Effect of Athletic Activities on Adolescent Girls' Self-esteem
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between athletic participation and self-esteem among adolescent girls. The study was performed on fifth grade females. A group of 20 girls participated in an after school athletic program for eight months. At the end of the program, 3 girls had dropped and the remaining 17 girls were given a self-esteem questionnaire. The same questionnaire was given to a group of 17 fifth grade girls who did not participate in the athletic program.
