Abstract

<p>As awareness of Celiac disease grows, testing services offered by clinical laboratories must expand accordingly. Testing needs at large reference laboratories are especially impacted by this change due to their coverage of broad geographic range and diverse patient populations. For this reason, traditional Celiac testing methods have given way to new technologies that offer greater flexibility and performance. A comprehension of the pathogenesis of this disease helps to explain how diagnostic workup for this disease has evolved. Likewise, an understanding of current diagnostic testing options can offer some insight into the optimization of quality laboratory services in the interest of improving Celiac patient outcomes.</p>
