Metodología para la evaluación de la sostenibilidad en ladrillos de mortero dopados con triturado de hueso de oliva

Abstract

dc:description

The technological advances of recent decades have focused attention on the environmental efficiency of all productive sectors, and the search for techniques that reduce the consumption of natural resources and minimize the impact on the natural environment. In this sense, it is crucial to highlight the importance of waste management in general and, in particular, that generated by the industry. Today's society is increasingly aware of the need to transform waste into resources, in order to reduce the negative impact of human activity on the environment in a cycle that has been called Circular Economy. Furthermore, the exploration and development of new technologies for the use of renewable energy contributes to reducing energy dependence on external countries, which translates into a reduction in the costs of importing energy resources. In this context, the objective of this Doctoral Thesis is to study the viability of the sustainable use of waste (unused tires and olive pits) incorporated into cement-based materials for use in construction (specifically GERO mortar bricks). This initiative is framed in the concept of "Sustainable Construction", which seeks to address three fundamental pillars from the point of view of engineering and sustainability: - Technical viability - Environmental conservation - Reuse of resources. These pillars have been developed coherently throughout the course of this research, which has culminated in the publication of two articles in two of the most prestigious journals in the area of materials and construction ("Thermal behavior of hollow concrete blocks and bricks doped with rubber from waste tires" and "Alternative Use of the Waste from Ground Olive Stones in Doping Mortar Bricks for Sustainable Façades") and a third ("Methodology for evaluating the sustainability of the use of ground olive stone in bricks of mortar for facades") that is under review by the publication as of this date. The Doctoral Thesis exhaustively covers the previously established objectives, regarding the characterization of the thermal behavior of the addition of certain waste (out-of-use tires and olive pits) in the manufacture of construction materials treated with cement, as well as the analysis of their Possible applications in building construction from an energy, economic, environmental and social point of view. In short, the Doctoral Thesis "METHODOLOGY FOR THE EVALUATION OF SUSTAINABILITY IN MORTAR BRICKS DOPED WITH OLIVE BONE CRUSHED" stands as a fundamental work for the advancement in sustainable construction, by addressing the reuse of waste tires outside of use and olive pit as a valuable resource by demonstrating the technical, economic and social viability of its application in cement-based materials for building.
