El proyecto lírico permanente: La comunicación en la poesía

Abstract

dc:description

This research work outlines a model based on the essential elements of communication (transmitter, message, receiver) consistent with the theory of literature in the Western world, but focused on the reason that organizes and defines such model. We infer that, given a lyric model or project in human communication, it responds to a primary cause and specific purposes. This cause and these purposes must thus be permanent and universal, which would account for the validity of the poetic language in every historical period, geographic region and verbal language. Since the course of history, the distinctiveness of every culture and the unique characteristics of every transmitter cast countless differences into the texts that form “poetry”, it becomes necessary to identify its invariable and sine qua non aspects. In our view, these are: 1) rhythm, 2) metaphor and 3) the “self”. Ultimately, the idea defended by this work is as follows: these three mutually dependent aspects shall be found in every manifestation of the lyric genre, and all of them activate a system with a perceptible purpose, that is, a permanent project throughout history.
