Funciones y quehaceres de los inspectores de Educación en Baleares. Un estudio de casos
Abstract
dc:descriptionThis research deals with the practice of Education inspectors who do their professional duty in the Balearic Islands. The main objective of the study, which has helped give the title of the thesis, focuses on the analysis of the functions and tasks of the inspectors as agents of improvement in schools. Thus, this study presents a theoretical core that runs essential aspects of the educational system in Spain in relation to the historical tour of the education inspection and fundamentals of professional practice relating to the inspection function. The empirical study, hermeneutical and qualitative, is based on the case study to examine the action of inspectors in schools that provide compulsory education. To do this, we have implemented in-depth interviews to almost all inspectors, so this has been triangulated with input from school principals thrown within four discussion groups, and has also been contrasted with multiple field notes. With the help of Atlas.ti, achieving abundant results and rich conclusions has been able. Finally, this research proposes a model of educational inspection from the analysis of the data, as well as raises many ways forward and has extensive bibliographic references and appendices. This work is pioneering, as it is the first doctoral thesis ever about education inspection in the Balearic Islands. With this investigation that takes more than 1000 pages, its author earned a unanimously cum laude mark and then the Extraordinary Doctorate Award.
