SU OPOSICION A LA HISTORIA ENTREGADA POR SU MECENAS, LA CONDESA MARIA DE CHAMPAÑA, NO SOLO ES REAL Y AFECTA A LO MAS PROFUNDO DE SU PSIQUE DESPERTANDO SUS FANTASMAS, SINO QUE SE VUELVE ABIERTAMENTE ACTIVA Y BELIGERANTE TRAS EL VALOR DEL SIMBOLO, TRAS EL GESTO, TRAS LA PALABRA. EN EFECTO, "LA CHARRETTE" ES UNA OBRA DE DISTANCIAMIENTOS: DIATANCIAMIENTO AUTOR-MATERIA, DISTANCIAMIENTO AUTOR-MECENAS Y DISTANCIAMIENTO AUTOR-PERSONAJE. LA ACTITUD DE CHRETIEN ES LA DE UN AUTOR INTEGRADO EN LO SOCIAL, QUE DEFIENDE Y PROCLAMA LOS VALORES SOCIALES, POR IMPERFECTOS QUE SEAN, POR ENCIMA DE LOS DEL INDIVIDUO, CUYA "INDIVIDUALIDAD" SOLO SE JUSTIFICA EN LA MEDIDA QUE SIRVE A SU COMUNIDAD. POR TODO ELLO, EN "LA CHARRETTE" CHRETIEN ES MAS CHRETIEN.
