The roommate

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

THE ROOMMATE is about Donna, a restless 25-year-old stuck in a passionless relationship with her too-nice boyfriend in the Midwest. When she inherits a bungalow on the outskirts of Los Angeles, the home of her recently-deceased grandmother, she's thrilled to seek the sunshine of the West Coast and hopes her new circumstances will help her focus on her life ambitions. But when she arrives, Donna discovers the mysterious home is too much to afford on her own. She solicits and finds a seemingly great roommate, Joshua Flowers, who nurses her through an accident and her loneliness. Then, Joshua begins to exhibit some alarming behaviors—the concealment of a 20-foot python and access to a side door for which Donna has no key. As their disagreements escalate, THE ROOMMATE tracks Donna's pursuit to regain her life and learn to take care of herself.
