“White ink”: the body and écriture féminine in Toni Morrison's Beloved

<p>In her novel Beloved, Morrison seeks to tell a story that is difficult to tell using conventional literary techniques: the story of freed, forgotten former slaves. Through her use of techniques such as Cixou's ecriture feminine, as well as her own literary devices, including ideas of corporeality and the body and the divine as mundane and material, Morrison is able to tell a story that otherwise could not be told.</p>
