In addition, through research, interviews with community leaders and with Latino philanthropists the study analyzes Latino nonprofit engagement and philanthropic practices. The thesis argues that increasing Latino engagement in mainstream youth development organizations first requires historical and contemporary analysis of related practices in order to create attractive, relevant and successful strategies. Both historical and contemporary literature is reviewed in this study.
