Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>This dissertation, <em>Making Faces</em>, is a book of prose poems investigating the work of portrait composition as it might be achieved through poetry. The prose poems in <em>Making Faces</em> explore how written expressions of people might be built poetically through—listing, paradox, rhythmic and figural repetition, presence and likeness, details, and brevity. The prose poems in <em>Making Faces</em> explore how written expressions of people might be built poetically through an examination of ideas and feelings.</p>
