The Effectiveness of Physiotherapy at a Patient with Knee Valgus and Low Back Pain
Abstract
dc:description.abstractLimb divergence has significant effects on lower back pain. Knee valgus has been indicated in past studies to have a negative effect on muscle strength, especially in the pelvico-lumbo-hip complex (PLHC). Understanding the level to which it affects these muscles is important since it enables the therapist to assess the level of muscle strength and the types of exercises that will improve the strength of the identified muscles. This study gathers the BMI, weight, and height data from a 43-years-old patient, tests and records the pain in the muscles of knees, and lower back areas, subjects the individual to target exercise therapy, tests again, and conducts follow up to determine the effects of the treatment. The methodology offers an overview of the steps that have been used to obtain the results and shows the significance of the tests, the durations, and focused muscle, low back, and knee areas. The results are analyzed through tabulation of the data and determination of descriptive statistics to determine the total scores when the patient felt pain before the treatment, after the therapy, and during follow up. The findings suggest that target exercise therapy is effective in the reduction of pain in the muscles of the lower back and the knee areas. The study concludes that muscle and knee pains emanate from the various lifestyle and occupational aspects, which aggravate them depending on the biological aspects of the body.
