Web-Based On-Line Simulations For Semiconductor Lasers and Their Chirping Problems

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This thesis presents a theoretical model which is based on the rate equations of the earner density, photon density, electron temperature, hole temperature, populations of nonequilibrium longitudinal (LO) and transverse optical (TO) phonons at different wave vectors, and lattice temperatures in semiconductor lasers. The simulation results of this model not only successfully explain the chirping problems but also illustrate the different roles of carrier and lattice heating in the modulation response of semiconductor lasers. In addition, web-based on-line simulations are developed, implemented and realized from this theoretical model.
