The in vitro results were compared with the in vivo irritancy of these compounds in the rabbit eye and the significance of any correlations are discussed. In addition, measurements were made of detergent penetration through the isolated. rabbit cornea and the rates of change of in vitro corneal electrical impedance in the presence of detergents. These findings are also compared with the in vivo results.
